This banner was pictured in the July
                        2007 CSAJ (Volume 54., Number 3 Page 125 ) However, the
back side has never been shown. As can easily be observed,
the hole has been broken out. The hole shows signs of
copper residue, as if a copper rod or tube was inserted
at one time. In a conversation with David Lutz, author
of The Archaic Bannerstone, he mentioned that this was
the first time he had observed this in a bannerstone
hole. Is it a unique specimen or something that just
hasn't been observed before? Perhaps there are others
out there? It's time to start looking at the perforations
of bannerstones in a new way and see if there are really
                        some new discoveries. |
