Unusually large Stanfield (late Paleo) blade of Hixton quartzite, quarried by early people at the Silver Mound site. Measuring 6 5/8 inches in length, this fine artifact was formerly owned by Bobby Onken, Tommy Beutell (F2680) and Ken Nicholson of Jackson, Georgia. It was found at Potosi, Grant County, Wisconsin many years ago.

This large thin and colorful blade measuring 6 1/8 inches long and 3 inches wide was formerly in the Linton Foersterling collection and was found by A. Gitttenmier at Florissant, Missouri. Collection of James “Joe” Kinker, Hermann, Missouri

Granite / Porphry Boatstone measuring 2 1/2 inches long and 1 inch high perforated biconically and polished overall, found in Moultrie County, Illinois; a personal find and collection of Ray Martin, Decatur, Illinois.

The Louisiana “Panther” pipe
This outstanding sculpture in the round weighs 3 pounds and measures 6 7/8 inches in length, 5 7/8 inches in height and is crafted from fine grained sandstone. It was found approximately 50 miles from Vicksburg, Mississippi in Eastern Louisiana some time in the late 1800’s. Unique in that is so lifelike and in the crouching position as if ready to strike. Notice the triforked eye incising. Some remnants of the Panther still are seen in the Louisiana swamps of the Atchafalaya River basin.Formerly collected by J. Neal Brown Sr. and presently in the collection of Tommy Beutell.
