On the Cover
Human effigy statue made from pottery. It is 5 1/8 inches tall by 2 1/8 inches wide. This male figure
has all its facial features; the hair was braided down the back where a hole was drilled for suspension.
It was found by Herman Twelkemeier in Stewart County, Tennessee. It is from the collection of Dr. Arthur Cushman.
