On the Cover
Two spectacular St. Louis fluted Paleo period points, both found in Kentucky. This style was named by Greg Perino due to examples found in the St. Louis area, and is a broad based point that is fluted on both sides and considered to be a knife form rather than a projectile point. The point on the left was found in Montgomery County, Kentucky, near the town of Mt. Sterling It measures 5 /14 inches by 2 1/6 inches in width. It is made from Kentucky hornstone. The point on the right measures 5 7/8 inches in length by 2 3/16 inches in width and was found in Fayette County, Kentucky. It is most likely made from Boyle chert.
