Looking out at the Mound City Group, one of the five sites within the
Hopewell Culture National Historic Park in Chillicothe, Ohio. This area
was once part of Camp Sherman, a World War One training facility. It
was excavated after the war, and designated Mound City National Monument
in 1923. The park was renamed in 1992 and expanded to include four other
nearby important archaeological sites: the Hopewell Site, Seip Earthworks,
Hopeton Earthworks and the High Bank Works. The park includes walking
trails and an artifact filled museum. For the full story see page 5.
