At top: Found in Monroe County, Kentucky in 1989 by Jackie Roberts, this point was discovered with its original bone handle. It shows how the ancient inhabitants utilized two available resources to make a useful tool. Together they measure 6 inches in length. What is even more remarkable is that the bone has a lip around the far end(see inset -arrows), and it appears the sinew utilized to attach the point was wrapped around the base and then pulled through the handle. It was then wrapped around the lip and this held the point in place. From a practical aspect, it would allow easy reuse of the handle if the blade were to break.
