On the Cover
Both sides of a rare “bone-saw” Clovis point are pictured on the
cover. This style point has never been pictured before to the editors
knowledge. While some Clovis points have damage to their edges, possibly
implying serrations, this point is proof that purposely serrated Clovis
points were manufactured by ancient man. This point was uncovered in the
1970’s
in Hardin County, Tennessee near Savannah. It was broken in two by construction
equipment at the time it was found. Two boys picked the pieces up, and both
had to be coaxed out of their half to make the point whole again. It is
4 inches long and made from a glossy high quality Ft. Payne chert. Collection of Dennis Burgess, Cookville, Tennessee |
