On the Cover
This exceptional example of an Abbey point dating from the Archaic period
(4000 to 2000 B.C.) was found near the Withlacoochee River in Brooks
County, Georgia. The Abbey point is typically found in south Georgia,
Alabama, and northern Florida. This point is 4 1/2 inches long and
was chosen to represent the state of Georgia on our cover. From the
