On the Cover
Gorget found in Morgan County, Alabama, by J.B. Ratliff. It was passed
on to his son Edward Ratliff and is now in the collection of Dan Stroud.
The gorget is 4 1/2 inches long an 2 1/8 inches wide, made of polished
red stone. It has 3 holes drilled from both sides, and a fourth hole
had been started on one side. The gorget was feature on page 21 of
Sun Circles and Human Hands, 1957. It was chosen by Rebel State Archaeological
Society of Alabama for our cover.
