On the Cover
This Benton Point is a personal find of Dan Rainey. It was found in a
cache of six blades in Rutherford County, Tennesee, on November 28,
1994. It is 8 inches long. All the blades in the cache were pictured
in Volume 43 November4 (October) CSASJ. The other points consisted
of another 8 inch Benton, a 4 1/4 inch oblique flaked Elk River, a
4 1/4 inch oblique flaked Benton, a 4 1/14 inch side-notched Benton,
and a 5 1/4 inch corner-notched Benton. This point was selected by
the Volunteer State Archaeological Society to represent the state of
Tennessee on the cover of the Central States Archeological Journal
