On the Cover
A unique and unusual “three-eyed” kneeling female effigy ceramic vessel found at Spiro Mound in 1936 by Columbus Eubanks. Eubanks worked for the Pocola Mining Company and was paid in artifacts. He sold this pot to Harry T. Bell of Marion, Ohio, on April 9, 1936. The backside shows Harry’s number, 880. This picture was taken around 1956 when much of the collection was dispersed. It was previously not known what had become of this vessel, but just recently it was discovered to be in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This photograph has never before been published. For the full story, see pages154-159.
